How to you feel when you’ve hesitated for quite a while and the decision is made finally? Do you feel relief? Joy? Do you try to think of why other options are so much worse? Or wonder if it wouldn’t be better if you chose differently?
I was thinking on about seagull legs for 4 days. I mean the seagull from my newest collage. Sounds funny, I know. But I knew I wouldn’t be able to create anything else unless I finish this project. And I wanted to, with my head packed with ideas and inspiration. I usually know how I want things to look like, or know that I won’t know soon. In the second case I’m free to move on and usually come back to abandoned pieces when the time is right.
With this one – I felt both options are good and felt like I almost have it! But the seagull could only have one OR two legs at the same time (that was my concern). Unless it was Schrödinger’s seagull of course. The seagull has one and both legs at the same time, up until the moment you see them.
I asked you for advice on IG and FB and most of you said two legs. But I still wasn’t sure. So I made it even more difficult for myself and added a few more options. I started to work on leg colour, length and thickness, the seagull’s body length and the position of the sun.
And then, a few hours and cups of tea later, I saw it finally. There were two legs. Slightly thinner and shorter than I thought at first but two! I got to my decision and now I can enjoy my legless thoughts and explore some new ideas.
But yes, of course I still have this thought in the back of my mind that maybe one leg would be nicer…?
